A $15.00 Queen Anne’s vanity with little cubby hole drawers was the perfect piece to recreate into a card catalog style vanity/desk!
The vanity started out as an ink-stained, maple wood colored, boring mess.
The finish was created with 2 coats of CeCe Caldwell’s Maine Harbor Blue, some clear and dark wax to seal and age the drawer fronts, and Gold Rub and Buff on the edges to highlight the hardware and add some elegance to the piece.
I picked up a half yard of teal and blue fabric from Joann Fabric (with my 50% off coupon!) to recover the stained rose patterned fabric she came with.
The shining star of this vanity is the label holder pulls I ordered from Lillian Olive on Etsy. They were a steal at $5.99/5 pulls with matching brads. I went to Lowes and picked up some small screws so I could attach them to the vanity. The pulls are made of heavy gauge metal and are available in bright brass, antique brass, and matte black.

Inside where the vanity mirror was missing we cut, sanded, and painted a piece of backer board to create a chalkboard. Since there are a ton of little drawers and cubbies on this vanity my intention was to turn it into functional craft storage but it could also still be used as a vanity!
Now this vanity has every right to be a little vain!
I love it! So many cute little details.
So Very Cute! I love the hardware shape and color, its a nice pop against the blue.

Oooh, this is such a fun color and I love the gold trim. The pulls are beautiful! x
This is beautiful! I love anything that resembles a card catalog!
WHat a GREAT colour! Something I wouldn't have thought of doing, but I love it!
I'm in love with this beautiful piece. The color is exquisite. The hardware divine. I'm now following you and I featured your masterpiece on my Once Upon a Firefly FB page today.
That is just beautiful and so unique! LOVE IT!
Nice job on everything with this piece…just perfect!
Stacey :o)
Thanks so much Rachel! I was so happy to find the hardware…especially for such a great deal!
you already know i love it! so glamorous!
I was originally planning to do a bit of a darker blue but I wanted to try CeCe Caldwell's paint so I picked Main Harbor Blue and even though it is brighter than I was originally thinking it looks great with the gold trim and hardware!
Such a cool little piece! Love the choice of the blue with the gold, great work.
WOW! This is amazing!!! I love how it turned out. Those pulls are fantastic and i love the chalkboard idea. Well done 🙂
Wonderful transformation! I LOVE the color!
What a stunning vanity. Love the pulls. Your color combination makes a wonderful transformation.
I'm a new follower and hope you'll stop by, Mary Alice
What a transformation. I love it!
That is a beautiful color! Do you call that periwinkle? The hardware gives it a nice touch too! Great job!
Thanks. It's called Maine Harbor Blue by CeCe Caldwell's chalk and clay paint. The color before being waxed looked like a periwinkle to me. It deepened up a bit once the wax was layered on top and is probably more a mix of a royal and periwinkle.
Cute, cute, cute – esp. like the upholstery fabric on the seat.
Popped in from Wow Us Wednesday.

Wow! Your vanity is stunning. I love the color and the gold trim that really pops.
Thanks so much Tami! I was happy to find a fabric that had the perfect shade of blue in it. I forgot to take a paint swatch with me so I was just eyeballing it from memory! Worked out this time!
Thanks Connie! The gold was actually an afterthought! The vanity seemed like it needed something extra to play off the gold hardware and to contrast the blue. It was my first time using Rub and Buff (a metallic tinted wax). I'll definitely use it again!
You did a fantastic job! I have refurbished a couple desks like this and it's a task! Your newest linky follower!

What a bargain price for such a great find. You did an amazing job of transforming it. Thanks for linking up at Shabbilicious Friday this week.
Thanks Yvonne! I would use it for craft storage 😉 myself but I left the ring holder and jewelry cubbies in the top 2 drawers so if someone wanted it as a vanity it would still work as one! It was my first time using CeCe Caldwell's Maine Harbor Blue. I really like how the color turned out but the paint tends to have a marbled finish when waxed that I wasn't sure about until the entire piece was finished! Thanks for hosting. 🙂
I love the label holder pulls you used!! I would never have thought you could buy pulls like that. Love the card catalog look!
Love what you did with this! Very unique!

Thanks so much Hannah!
Where did you get the corner things on the mirror?
They came in the vanity. the mirror was missing but the hardware was already there so we placed a chalkboard inside instead.
LOVE this piece. I have been searching and searching for a vanity, and I would love one like this.
Thanks Samantha!
