If you’re do-it-your-selfer or crafter then you really must check out Craftbaby. Candie and Elizabeth the ladies behind Craftbaby host weekly craft challenges with great prizes for the winning entries! I have submitted work in several of their challenges and signed up to participate in the Craftbaby Secret Pal event this holiday season. In case you were wondering, it’s just a good old fashioned secret craft swap between a bunch of DIY and craft bloggers! It’s going to be so much fun!
1. What is your favorite form of crafting?
Tough call! I enjoy crocheting, sewing, paper crafts, painting, floral design, refinishing…pretty much whatever I can do to get my creative juices flowing.
2. How do you store your craft supplies?
You don’t want to know. Right now they’re all over the place. In plastic totes down in our basement office and all over the floor and my craft table up in our master loft which is in the process of being turned into an actual crafting room.
3. How long have you been crafting & how did you get involved?
As long as I can remember. I’m sure I started the usual way with a box of crayons and a pair of safety scissors!
4. Do you have an Amazon or other online wish list?
Yup, although it’s small. Just a way for me to remember a few things I want. Right now it has some boot options (riding, cowboy, and rain), Storybook/Paper Lace/Flower Shoppe Cricut cartridges, a Brother 1034D 3/4 Lay-In Thread Serger, a paper cutter (not sure how I don’t have one already), some Ikea toys for the kiddos, and the 2013 Katie Daisy Wall Calendar I want to use to decorate my daughter’s walls.
It should include an iMac and/or MacBook and some new flooring but those items are simply too costly to make the cut right now.
5. What’s your favorite scent?
Usually a simple vanilla and during the holidays I love the cinnamon and mulled cider scents. yum!
6. Do you have a sweet tooth? Favorite candy?
Guilty as charged! I love Snickers, Reeses Cups, Almond Joys, and I can really do some damage on some Sour Patch Kids.
7. What other crafts or Do-It-Yourself things do you like to do?
See question 1!
8. What kind of music do you like? Can your computer/stereo play MP3s? (if your Pal wants to make you a retro mixed tape)
The three C’s (uhh make that 4) are usually what I have playing. Country, Christian, Christmas (seasonally), and Children’s (not by choice mind you).
9. What are your favorite color(s)? Any colors you just can’t stand?
In decor: greens, blues, browns, yellows, metals, and whites/creams
In clothes: black, brown, teal, red, and magenta
In life: ALL 🙂 I can find something pretty about every color!
10. What is your family situation? Do you have any kids/pets?
Family of 4. Hubby, Me, 3-year-old girl and 1-year-old boy. No pets.
11. Whats your favorite crafting weapon (or wand) of choice?
Lets go with glue gun or a simple needle and thread. They get a lot of use!
12. Where is your favorite place to craft?
The floor! Hopefully, that will change once the craft room is done!
13. Where is your favorite place to find crafting supplies?
Locally, Joanns. If I want to drive a bit then Hobby Lobby would probably take 1st.
14. What items do you find yourself splurging on when scouring Etsy?
I don’t think I’ve ever splurged on anything. Unfortunately our finances aren’t compatible with my wish list and due to conscious I er to the side of being fiscally responsible. I really hate spending money when I know we don’t have it. But if I gave myself the go ahead I’d be buying a Jadeite batter bowl and cups/saucers, a white enamelware utensil drip rack/utensils, European grain sacks, and crochet, knit, and leather accessories!
15. Are you into fashion?
We have a love hate relationship. I love it. It hates me. Or more specifically my body type. That’s why I stick mostly to shoes and accessories. Trying on clothing stinks. I know what I’d like to wear but more often than not my arch nemesis the mirror doesn’t think it wise.
16. Do you have any little crafters running around?
My daughter would love to be in to it all…if I let her!
17. How old is your oldest unfinished craft?
Well I picked up fleece last year to make my daughter a hooded cape. Didn’t happen. And I started a scarf in broomstick lace last winter. Still not done. If there’s anything older than that then I forgot about it and it will truly be a surprise when I come across it!
18. What is your favorite holiday? How about favorite season?
Christmas. Summer and Fall.
19. Is there anything that you collect?
When I was young, cornhusk dolls and reindeer. Now, fabric/linens, pretty glass, and shoes. 🙂
20. Any books, patterns or crafting supplies out there you are dying to get your hands on?
I’d love The Handbuilt Home: 34 Simple Stylish and Budget-Friendly Woodworking Projects for Every Room, Typography Sketchbooks, and a Silhouette Cameo Electronic Cutting Tool + Silhouette Replacement Blade + Accessory Kit
21. Are there any new techniques you’d like to learn?
I’ll know it when I see it!
22. What kind of crafting magazine subscriptions do you have?
None. The internet is enough for me! Plus, it’s free!
23. When is your birthday?
December. My brother and I made a nice double whammy tax return!
24. What was your first pin on Pinterest?
If you know a way to look besides digging through all of my pins let me know. I have close to 1,500 pins and 600 likes!
25. What are some of your favorite blogs?
Miss Mustard Seed, The 36th Avenue, Craftberry Bush, The Lettered Cottage, Perfectly Imperfect, Primitive and Proper, I {heart} Nap Time, Going Home to Roost, the handmade home, Nesting Place, Jones Design Company, Freckled Laundry, live. laugh. rowe. ,Tatertots and Jello, and Prudent Baby among MANY others!
26. Have you already picked up your copy of the recently released home decor book, Young House Love: 243 Ways to Paint, Craft, Update & Show Your Home Some Love and picked out a place to display it when it is not in use?!
Nope, refer back to question 14. Sorry John and Sherry.
Okay. That’s it for now! I’ll be back with more posts for my Craftbaby Secret Pal in the coming weeks.
