It took ten days to pull my act together and finish little lady’s dollhouse backpack. It wasn’t ready for her first day of preschool but 5 school days late isn’t too bad!
I used an adorable pattern from Heather of The Sewing Loft which is being sold by Simplicity.
I made one slight adjustment to the pattern by sewing the flap on the inside instead of the outside of the backpack. The original pattern has you sew it on to the outside covering part of the straps which makes them start an inch or so below the top of the backpack. Sewing from the inside and working around the straps allowed me to keep the full strap length and have them run the full length of the pack.
She was so excited to bring her new backpack with her to school today!
I even found some adorable coordinating pouches in Target’s dollar aisle. They only slightly validated our bold fabric choices!!
And how fun are these watercolor pencils?! I’ve never used them before and can’t wait to see how they work!
Are your children back in school yet? What are you doing to get them excited about going back to school?

Thanks Denyse! She does love it. It's a little too small for her school folders so it's her full time doll backpack. She has all her Little People Princesses and Disney Fairies stashed in it!
