I can’t believe we’re already three days into December and on our third tutorial of the 25 Days of Christmas series!
Today you’re hanging with me again as I share my sweater stamped ornaments!
Material List
- modeling clay *
- old sweater or sweater textured stamp

- wax paper
- rolling pin
- small mitten and stocking cookie cutters
- toothpick
- glass glitter
- Q-tips
- E6000Ā® Craft Adhesive

- yarn to hang
* I used Crayola Model Magic. It is very lightweight and not sticky but dries with a foam like texture instead of the porcelain texture I was expecting. It still looks very pretty but won’t give you the typical texture of dried clay.
If you don’t have a sweater you aren’t worried about ruining you can do what I did and pick one up from Goodwill.
Step 1:
Use rolling pin to roll out clay on a flat clean surface.
Step 2:
Lay sweater over clay. If you can have a friend or family member help, have them stretch the sweater a bit to help cut the slack and make a better imprint. Use the rolling pin to roll over the sweater and clay. Peel back sweater to reveal imprinted clay.
* Sorry I don’t have a picture of this step. I didn’t have enough arms to stretch, roll, and photograph all at the same time! I used the neckband because the tighter weave produced a better imprint.
Step 3:
Use mitten and stocking cutters to cut imprinted clay. Use toothpick to create hole at the top center of each mitten and stocking for hanging.
Repeat steps 1-3 until you have as many ornaments as you desire.
Step 4:
Once the ornaments are dry use a Q-tip to apply glue to the cuffs of each mitten and stocking (One at a time. Glue can dry quick!) Sprinkle glitter over glue and tap to remove excess.
Step 5:
Allow glue to dry then string yarn, twine, or ribbon through holes to hang.
Isn’t the knitted texture so fun!
