Happy Friday friends!!!
I am so excited to share this painted portable beverage station crate with you. I absolutely love how it turned out. Just wait until you see the before!
In our house we don’t have a dedicated beverage bar but I have always loved the idea of having a specific station where beverages can be prepared and everything is readily on hand. I also prefer the idea of having the station be portable so it can be brought out and put away as needed. Portability also means that the beverage station could be moved from the kitchen to the dining room to the family room depending on where the family or any guests might be hanging out.
I decided a wood beverage tote I had on hand would make the perfect portable beverage station! How perfect is the vintage font and text, the metal banding, and the authentic dings, dents, and wormholes!?
What I didn’t love so much about it was the dinginess, dirtiness, & rustic-ness OR the color palette.
So where do I turn when I don’t love the finish of an item? Good old paint!!

Before painting the crate, I used tracing paper and traced all the text. Turns out, in the case of my crate, I didn’t need to, because I could see an indent of where all the text was stamped even after two coats of my favorite minty green paint (Valspar, Starry Woods).
Because I’m sure every situation is different, I would recommend tracing any text you want to recreate. Better safe than sorry!
After two coats of green paint, I used DecoArt acrylic paint in Snow (Titanium) White and Ikea Mala Paint Brushes to repaint the vintage lettering.
All that was left was to let the paint dry and load the crate up with our beverage supplies. Since it’s currently cold here in Maryland I loaded it up with mugs, coffee pods, hot cocoa packets, and spoons. I contained the coffee pods and hot chocolate packets in two patching ceramic berry baskets.
Oh my, it turned out just how I pictured!
AND, I can not wait to style it up for other seasons.
I’m thinking mason jars or glass milk bottles and paper straws with sparkling water for the summer. Set it on the sideboard with a pitcher of lemonade and some sliced lemons and it’ll be good to go!
Do you have a beverage bar in your home?
Would a portable beverage crate work better for you?
Tell us in the comments how you set up beverages for serving your family and guests!
Thanks for dropping in today and have a wonderful weekend!

Wow it’s so amazing how an old wood crate can be gussied up with just some paint and be repurposed into a great looking beverage station which is also portable. Great job and love that color. enjoy.
