Hello again friends!
We’re back with another installment in our One Room Challenge™ Garage Creative Studio makeover series.
Maybe you’ve never heard of the ORC. If not let me quickly catch you up to speed. The ORC is a biannual challenge where bloggers and designers around the web complete a room redo over the span of 6 weeks. Every Wednesday, 20 featured designers share the progress they’ve made in their rooms, and each Thursday, Linda of Calling It Home (the originator of the ORC), hosts a linkup where anyone from around the web can jump in and share their own ORC projects.
For week one we shared the scary before images of our space as well as a collection of inspiration images! Last week, week two, we narrowed down our design plans and shared a mockup of the space and a to-do list of all the projects we plan to complete over the 6 week challenge.
This week we checked a few more items off our to-do list, including painting the interior door a pretty pale blue-green color.
The color is Nature’s Reflection by Behr and it is gorgeous!
I was worried it might be too dark but now that it’s up on the door and next to the bright white wall and trim paint I think it’s the perfect contrast. I also hung some woven fabric behind the panes of glass to mostly block out the view of the unfinished part of the garage.
Yesterday, my husband cut and shellacked the boards for the window bases.
We finished up a large-scale floral art piece and cleaned up the vintage velvet loveseat. Part of the cleanup included ripping off the outdated skirt. Now I’m looking for some kind of cute trim to finish it off.
So where are we on our to-do list:

- source rug (hoping we can find one that is the right size & price)
- STYLE THE SPACE!
Slowly but surely! I did begin painting the open shelves this week so about 1/2 of that project is done too. I’m feeling good about the progress we’ve made so far.
For more real-time sneak peeks of the space stop over and follow us on Instagram. And, of course we’d love to see you back here next week.
We’ll continue to share our progress every Wednesday and will be linking up over on the One Room Challenge™ blog every Thursday. The final ORC reveals will be posted the week of May 9th!!
Did you notice our beautiful new floor in the Garage Creative Studio?! We’ll be sharing all about it and the DIY installation story soon.
We are so thankful to our sponsor, Select Surfaces, for helping to make this room a reality!

Thanks Emy! I love color but I also love natural muted tones which I think is why I gravitate toward the pale pastel colors.

Tiffany says
Wow I love that door color! Things are really coming together in the room.
Jessica says
Thanks Tiffany! I think the door color turned out so pretty against the white. I thought from the swatch that it might be too dark so I’m really glad that it doesn’t look too dark at all!
